designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is just 2 miles
from the nearest beach. The picturesque village of Slapton is a
mile away and has a village shop, a church and two really good pubs,
The Tower Inn and the Queens Arms. At the end of Slapton Ley is
the hamlet of Torcross which has a shop, a butcher and the locally
renowned Start Bay Inn which specialises in fantastic fish and chips.

farm shop selling an extensive range of local produce.

Naval College occupies an impressive position overlooking the town
and guided tours are sometimes available. The River Dart acts like
a magnet to people - go crabbing on the embankment, hire your own
boat or take a trip up the river to Dittisham for a spot of lunch,
or beyond to Totnes for a day out. Maybe even venture out to sea
to catch your supper! Take the ferry across the River Dart to Kingswear
and travel back in time on the steam railway line to Paignton. The
Flavel is Dartmouths art centre and has a cinema, a theatre,
café, bar and library. Woodlands Leisure Park lies a few
minutes drive to the north of Dartmouth and is a fantastic all weather
adventure park for all ages with water rides and a falconry centre.
Journey west from the cottage and youll come to Kingsbridge
under 20 minutes by car. You will find a good range of shopping
facilities here, an indoor swimming pool and a small cinema. Travel
a further 6 miles or so to arrive at Salcombe, a popular and very
pretty sailing resort. The market town of Totnes lies about a 20
minute drive away and provides a wealth of interesting shops and
cafes.
Within about an hours drive are the cities of Plymouth (visit the
National Marine Aquarium for a great day out) and Exeter (with its
beautiful Cathedral and fascinating restored docks and canal area).
The wild and wonderful Dartmoor also takes about an hour to reach
by car.
